Longridge Activity Centre, a non profit Charity, is a vibrant community hub offering outdoor adventure activities, that has provided the opportunity for over 80,000 young people and families to take part in a variety of activities, experiencing the magic of the Thames and its beautiful surroundings for nearly 100 years.
We are a small centre with a BIG operation; peak season is usually 400 – 700 people a day!
We run a combination of land and water based activities, all on our centre, based on the River Thames. Our bread and butter is schools, youth and faith organisations and general public, we facilitate our visitors requests with day visits, residential experiences, taster sessions, birthday parties and NGB courses. We run all of the activities you would expect at a multi activity centre, off ground activities with Climbing, High Ropes and Giant Swing. Water based activities with SUP, Kayak, Canoe, Dragon Boat, Bell Boat, Raft Build and our land based activities including, Water Orbs, Laser Tag, Trebuchet, Orienteering, Team Challenge, Nightline and Wide Games.
We are now recruiting our next amazing apprentices for our 15-month residential apprenticeship starting in January 2022! We only take a small number of apprentices each season so that we can ensure you receive the time and support you to get the most from your time with us. This year we are opening up six places only, apply early to avoid disappointment.
Earn while you learn
You will learn the skills and techniques required to teach others how to participate safely in adventurous activities whilst having fun. Additionally, you will live the ‘Uni experience’ of independent living by living on centre with the rest of the activity team.
Our Commitment to you – qualifications, skills and experience
We will sponsor you to achieve the qualifications listed below, you will gain more than listed, however these are the nationally recognised qualifications you will receive
- NVQ Level 3 Outdoor Activity Leader qualification
- British Canoeing Paddlesports Leader Award
- First Aid
- ERCA Traditional High Ropes Instructor qualification.
We pay you a training salary [apprentice NMW] and provide you with subsidised accommodation and optional food scheme. To apply please check the conditions below
- Aged 18 – 24 years old
- Be an UK citizen and have lived within the UK continuously for the last 3 years
- If you hold a qualification higher than a level 3 you may not be eligible
- Be willing to sign up to our Apprentice scheme for 15 months
