The Longridge Team

The Team

Trustees

The Trustees, all staunchly committed to Longridge and with a range of coaching and management skills, have agreed an ambitious renovation scheme to take Longridge into its next fifty years and well beyond.

Howard Mann (Chair/Commercial)

Businessman with an International General Management and Sales and Marketing background. Recently retired as President and CEO of McCain Foods Ltd the global French fry company, prior to which he was managing director of Ranks Hovis Mcdougall plc. He is currently Chairman of Reconomy Group Ltd a growing waste management and recycling comopany and the Senior Independent Director of Dairy Crest plc. He was awarded the O.B.E. for services to the Food Industry.

He is a riverside neighbour of Longridge and as such has observed at first hand the activities and training that the organisation offers young people.

He provides advice and support on a wide range of business and management subjects.

Caroline Meechan - (Deputy Chair/Operations)

Caroline first came across Longridge in Summer 2007 when putting together her own business, The WaveTM Gift Card, the UK’s first water sports gift card. So impressed was she with the values Longridge displays and the work done there that she offered her services as a volunteer. Caroline has spent all her working life in sales and marketing, working for tour operators, business travel, international car rental and, latterly, for Marriott Hotels International heading up the gift voucher business across Europe and the Middle East.

Caroline brings her extensive sales and marketing experience to Longridge, predominantly looking at sales into the corporate market. She also has a keen interest in and has developed skills in the area of personal development and will be looking to implement development plans for all working at Longridge to help them achieve their full potential.

James Lee (Commercial)

I first came to Longridge through their fireworks night which I was encouraged to go and support by my wife who believed that longridge was a good place for young people to experience outdoor activities; I was extremely impressed by the operation and its potential future.  Amanda persuaded me that I could help Longridge  so here I am trying to help.

I have been building and designing restaurant and hotel kitchens for the last twenty five years.  I work as an independent design consultant and project manager, I am also involved in a company that imports commercial catering equipment from all over the world and am a director of the Hinds Head PH in Bray and a director of Racine restaurant in Knightsbridge. I have some experience of the 3rd sector as I have for the last eight years been a  Trustee for the Percy Bilton charity.

Ross Faragher

Production Director of St George Central London Ltd. BCU level 5 Coach in inland kayak and canoeing adviser to Surrey County Scout Council. Involved with Longridge as a leader and water sports specialist for over 20 years.

Julian Fulbrook (Legal)

Barrister and Dean of Graduate Studies at the London School of Economics. BCU level 3 Coach in open canoe and DofE Award expeditions’ supervisor. UK Technical Advisor for The Scout Association on Canoeing. GSL of 8th Holborn Scout Group in Central London.

Asghar Majeed (Community Relations)

Asghar is 43-years old and was born in Keighley, West Yorkshire and lived there for most of his life.  He is a widower with three children - all boys.

The elder of this two boys are at University doing degrees and the youngest is in his first year of his A levels.

As well as working for Siemens as a Senior Business Intelligence Consultant, he is a Councillor in the Royal Borough of Maidenhead and Windsor.  Asghar initially came to Longridge regarding a council issue and was so impressed with the facilities, aims of Longridge and the team's enthusiasm that he agreed to become a very valued part of our Trustee Team.

Martin Plain (Company Secretary)

Until recently Martin was responsible for activities at Longridge but has moved up to greater things as our Company Secretary. As a highly qualified and respected BCU Coach with an impeccable pedigree of working with charities, Martin is a a great benefit to the team. He also organises our annual firework display - which is by far the best in the area.
