Longridge’s secondary school activities support the curriculum subjects of Physical Education, Citizenship, Geography and Science. We can also give full support to students working towards all levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award

This course shows students first-hand how and why our landscape is changing due to natural and man-made problems.
Students will collect, record and present evidence about river characteristics and learn about the changing course and nature of the river.
Our orienteering courses help students use Ordnance Survey maps and even create their own.

Students can learn how to cook food safely on an open fire or barbecue.
This activity teaches young people how to light and sustain a campfire safely using a range of tools and equipment.
Students can learn how to get everything ready for their big stay.
This important activity teaches young people important safety skills when near water as well as basic first aid skills.
Students learn how to assess what they need to bring along on their residential trip.
Practical advice on using and creating maps.

Indoor accommodation is offered at an additional £2.50 per student.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered at an additional £10 per person.
The transition from primary to secondary school can be daunting for young people. Longridge’s Year 7 Activity Courses are designed to encourage team participation, leadership and communication.

Longridge is delighted to be an operating authority for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We work with schools already offering the award to students in the award fields of service, skills, physical recreation and expeditions.
We can create and administer a programme for students in Years 9-13 who attend schools not offering Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
